Farm Field Journal
A bright sunny day at Summer's peak frame the front of the Purdy Neat Place farmhouse and grounds in this cropped landscape image.

Catch up on news and events happening on the farm.  Below are the farmer's notes from the field on day to day events at Purdy Neat Place.

January 17, 2011 - The 5 month old male beef calf "Franklin" has been the subject of some serious TLC at PNP for the past three weeks.  Just before Christmas, he went down in the field and was unable to return to his feet.  The cold proved to be too much for the young calf, and he was struggling to survive.  We immediately brought him in under the heat lamps, and put him on a rich diet of corn, hay and other goodies.  We also commenced a rigorous daily excercise routine of rolling him around and moving his legs to keep the muscles working and to protect his stomach.  A visit from the vet told us we were doing all we could do, and to just wait.  This video shows the progress to date.  He is seen to be moving under his own power, always keeping a strong appetite and a thirst for more.  We are hopeful for a full recovery by the time we return from a visit up North.
